Frequently Asked Questions

Can I dye my extensions?

Yes all virgin hair can be dyed; we do however advise that this is done by a Jabula professional hair stylist as the procedure requires skill and so that you obtain the hair colour results you desire. If you as the customer decide to do this yourself it is at your own risk if damage occurs. Jabula will not be held liable for any damaged caused by any 3rd party who decides to apply chemicals or treatments if not administered by a Jabula stylist. This applies to any purchase of human hair, human hair wigs, lace fronts and all other human hair extensions.

Can I style my hair extensions?

Yes all of Jubal Hair 100% Remy hair can be straightened or curled. We do warn you that frequent and over use will dry out the hair and lead to tangling.

How do I know if the hair I purchased is human or synthetic hair?

This is an easy one, human hair is made up of protein so if you burn it the human hair will be ash. Synthetic hair if burnt will smell of chemicals and leave a sticky residue.

How long will my extensions last?

It’s quite simple, treat your hair extensions as you would your own hair and take care of it. Jabula Hair extensions can last up to 2 years if cared for properly. Remember whether you decide to opt for Brazilian Remy, Peruvian Remy, Malaysian Remy, Indian Remy or Chinese Remy hair, make sure the hair you choose is unprocessed as this is an important feature for longevity.

How Many bundles of hair will I need for?

This depends on the size of your head. We usually recommend 2 packs of hair, however if you require a fuller look we suggest you go for 3 packs.

What are Lace Fronts?

Lace front extensions are made from silk mesh material formed into a cap which is knotted using single strands of hair into small openings within the cap. This gives the hair a more natural continuity than other extensions. The silk cap can be woven or attached to your hairline.

What are Remy hair extensions?

Remy hair is used to describe human hair that is of the highest grade of virgin hair with the cuticle intact. Remy hair has all the cuticles lying in the same direction. Remy hair is healthy virgin hair that is free of chemical processing. Remy hair is 100% natural virgin unprocessed hair, which prevents any kind of tangling and retains its natural look.

What is the difference between clip in, sewn in and bonded hair extensions?

1. Clip- in or Clip-on hair extensions:
Clip-in extensions are not permanent and the hair weft has small clips sewn onto them which can easily be clipped into your own hair when you require some body or length for a special occasion. We suggest you slightly back comb your own hair which assists with a more secure grip. Clip in must be removed before sleeping. Clip in extensions are versatile and can be worn daily.

2. Weft or Tracking:
This is the most common method used as it lasts longer than most methods. Tracking involves braiding your own natural hair so that the hair extensions wefts can be sewn onto the braids. A weave can be made up of a few tracks (braids), or the whole head can be braided for a full head weave.

3. Bonded:
There are two types of bonding methods: soft bond and hand bond. With a soft bond wefts are more flexible and comfortable to wear as latex/acrylic based glue is used. Hard bond adhesive lasts longer than a soft bond as the adhesive is not water based and less comfortable. Bond attachment generally last 4-6 weeks before a maintenance appointment is required.

Where does the hair come from?

Brazilian is hair is collected from rural places within Brazil; donors are paid for growing their hair.

Brazilian Hair Features: Brazil is genetically diverse. Brazilian hair is the most sought after hair in the hair extension market as it texture is coarse, heavy and dense. It comes in styles of naturally straight, wavy or curly. Brazilian hair is usually black or a rich brown and is great if you want thick bouncy hair.

Indian hair originates from the Tirupatu temples where the women shave their hair off as an offering to the gods. Indian hair comes in two forms, Indian Remy which has been lightly processes to modify textures or Indian virgin hair which is unprocessed and comes in its natural form. Indian hair is straight and thick, and dries wavy. Indian hair is great if you want shiny, straight hair. The hair is thick and coarse and comes in very dark colours.

Peruvian hair is collected from remote areas within Peru and there are not many donors.  Peruvian hair is coarser and thicker than Brazilian hair and grows naturally straight, wavy or very curly. When washed Peruvian hair becomes curly in texture. The colour of Peruvian hair comes in natural colours of dark, light and blondy brown. Peruvian hair is usually difficult to source and that is why it is often more expensive than other hair types. If you like extremely thick hair, then opt in to purchase Peruvian.

Chinese hair is usually sold by Chinese women for a profit to support families. Chinese hair only comes in dark colours, usually jet black. Chinese hair is hard to curl so the hair is not as versatile as other virgin hair on the market, however the hair is extremely silky, smooth and glossy.

Malaysian hair comes from Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines from women who have donated their hair to temples. Malaysain hair comes in styles of wavy or loose body waves. The hair is more dense than indian hair as well as beng softer and silkier than indian hair. The hair dryes straight with a slight wave. Compared to Chinese hair the hair is thinner as well as softer and the hair is extremely silky. If you like naturally wavy or curly hair this is the hair to go for.

Why are my hair extensions getting tangled?

Hair extensions get tangled because the hair has an oil and dirt build up, you have over processed it through dying, gone swimming in salt or chlorine water without  washing it after or you have not brushed it up to 4 times daily. We suggest that you wash and condition your hair at least once a week and use hydrating oil.  NEVER comb wet hair.
